How to: Rejuvenate your home for the new year.

With a new year comes an opportunity for a fresh start - is there anything better?! And, given the state of the last few years, we think it’s important to make a few changes to your spaces before we go forth into the new year. To us, that means a good, old-fashioned, declutter and refresher session!

As many of us often fall into the trap of either keeping too many “things” around the house, or simply going through the daily motions, we thought we’d compile a list of items that could be in need of refreshment or rejuvenation to help guarantee a fresh, stress-free and more organised 2022.

Sad or old pillows.

This fact might scare you a little but, according to the experts, our pillows should be replaced every 1-2 years… Sheesh, that’s often, right? Doing so helps to ensure that you’re using pillows that are supportive, clean, and free of allergens. So, if you’ve had the same one on your bed for a while now, it’s probably time to invest in a new one! If you’re pondering what to do with your old ones, consider donating to an animal shelter, making a pet bed or using them as a floor, gardening or knee pillow.

Out of date items.

If your pantry, fridge and bathroom cabinet is looking a little full after the holidays, we suggest checking the dates on every box, bottle or container to ensure it’s still in date. From canned foods, freezer items, shampoo, makeup, ointments and medicine, there's really no reason to hang onto personal care products once they've expired.

Half-burned candles.

If you’re anything like us, then you might have a cupboard full of candles you’ve only partially used. Maybe they were for a particular occasion, taking up space or maybe the overpowering scent was a little too much for your bedroom. Either way, it’s time to clear them out and make way for the new!

PSCO. Top Tip:

If you’d like to repurpose the candle jars, it’s easy enough to melt the wax down in the microwave and clean the jar ready for use.

Mismatched hangers.

If you open your wardrobe, you'll probably find a collection of random or mismatched clothing hangers. Holding onto hangers of different sizes, shapes, and colors will keep your closet looking and feeling unkempt. Throw away or donate any hangers that don't match, and treat yourself to a new pack. You’ll be amazed by how this simple change can make you feel!

Dingy towels .

As if it wasn’t hard enough to keep up with the weekly laundry as it is, did you know that you're actually supposed to wash your bathroom towels every two days? If not, they're probably covered in bacteria! Yet, after so many uses and washes, your towels are probably worn out so why not treat yourself to some freshies for the new year.

Random kitchen items.

We all know the reality of collecting random kitchen items over the years - who knows how it happens?! But, somewhere between that mug from your co-worker and a tea set you purchased as a souvenir from your trip to England, we’ve seemed to curate quite a collection! As we enter 2022, there's no better time to let go of the excess and narrow down to the basics.

PSCO. Top Tip;

If it's cracked or permanently stained, it’s time to go!
