Our 2022 design trend predictions.

The new year reset - arguably our favourite time of year! It’s such a special period where we take a moment to reflect, adjust our goals for the year, get inspired and set our sights on all the exciting things that are to come over the next 12 months.

As a business, and a team, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of our industry. So, with a new year means setting ourselves new challenges as we endeavour to keep pushing the boundaries of the home staging world. And, what better way to start this process than discovering the emerging design trends that will be on the horizon for 2022! Here’s our predictions…

Refined Neutrals.

Could neutrals ever be out of style? We think not. BUT, we are seeing a lot of beautiful concepts inspired by nature and refined, elevated neutrals. Think textured weaves, natural oak timbers and classic marbles in an earthy neutral palette with colours such as putty, chalk, taupe, eucalyptus and olive remaining prevalent. The refined neutrals trend really creates a sense of ease and harmony, plus it helps to produce balanced and tactile spaces which makes it the perfect scheme for a home interior in our eyes!

Sculptural and Curved Furniture.

A trend that emerged in 2021 and is sticking around for a little longer is sculptural or curved finishes seen across furniture pieces, architectural elements and decorative accents. After a global pandemic and years of harsh, sleek lines dominating the contemporary design world, homeowners are turning toward designs that soothe and cocoon homeowners. We are loving arched ornaments and curved sofas or occasional chairs for an easy addition to homes.

Modern Farmhouse .

A trend we’ve loved to see emerge of late - the modern farmhouse which promotes a move toward a slower existence. With many Australians grounded from their usual international travels, we’ve seen more people move away from city life, craving a relaxed lifestyle in rural areas. Summoning country escapism and rustic charm in a contemporary way, the colour palette is made up of wholesome green tones like  snow gum, hunter green and moss alongside gorgeous rusts and espresso browns. This trend comprises classic shaker style panelling, tactile raw timbers and beautiful hand-woven details.

Bold Patterns and Colours.

Lastly in 2022, we’re sure there will be a surge in vibrant colourways and bold patterns, similarly to those we’ve seen in emerging fashion trends of late. This trend will be all about bright, joyful colours like citrus orange, yellow and green as well as bold blues and purples. We’ve also seen a lot of our favourite homeware brands embracing strong patterns like chevron, checkerboard and herringbone shapes.

We can’t wait to dabble in these trends in all of our upcoming projects this year. Keep your eyes peeled!
