As the seasons change and we head into the warmer months, we are finding ourselves ready to clear away the cobwebs, open up the doors and prepare our homes for many a spring soiree or summer BBQ.

  1. Neutral, earthy tones.

Whilst pastel colour pops have been all the rage in previous years, this spring there’s nothing quite like those neutral, earthy tones to create a clean, calm and sophisticated environment in your home.

Earthy tones like shades of brown, burnt umber, terracotta, beige, taupe and tan will continue to be popular well into the final months of 2021.

This relaxing palette provides a nurturing contrast to the shiny, metallic finishes that are part and parcel of the busy city life most of us live day-to-day. Many of us seem to live on our mobile phones these days, so these desert tones provide a space for us to recharge, to remember where we are from and to ground ourselves.

Yet, if you’re missing colour, have no fear! These neutral tones pair perfectly with whichever bolder, brighter colour you desire.

2. Organic shapes.

It would be hard not to notice the significant shift toward more organic design in recent years. With a big movement towards rounded shapes in interiors, we’re even seeing this trend play it’s part in new builds and developments with feature wall cut-outs and rounded windows and entryways.

After a turbulent few months with the Covid-19 outbreak, our homes have become our sanctuary more than ever. Round shapes are kinder and more welcoming, evoking a cocoon-like comfort as we continue to spend time at home. Move over harsh lines and sharp edges, natural curves and quirky, interesting shapes are here to stay!

We’ve also seen this trend lead the way in the furniture category with more and more rounded occasional chairs and curved sofas hitting the showroom floors. We can’t wait to see how this trend continues to evolve over the next few years!

3. Sustainable and natural materials.

Sustainability has been a huge focus in the interior design world for several years now — and it’s only going to become more prominent as we focus on preserving the world as we know it for future generations.

These days, homeowners are seeking furniture and décor pieces that are made with sustainable materials and natural fibers. In fact, many are steering towards custom, handmade furniture that can last the test of time in quality and design.

Not only have we seen a rise in earthy colours for our interiors, but also an increase in more natural materials in furniture and homeware ranges. Materials such as concrete render, wicker, rattan and raw timbers remain at the forefront of interior trends with the natural finish appealing to a wide range of homeowners no matter their interior design style.
