How to: Style with green in your home.

When it comes to styling interiors for us, it’s all about creating spaces that not only look amazing, but also FEEL amazing. This is especially true in our industry of home staging, where we strive everyday to create an incredible experience throughout a property that makes potential buyers fall head-over-heels in love. And, how do we do that you might ask? Well, as humans, #science says we are automatically drawn to natural elements such as raw materials, like stone and timber, as well as earthy colour tones and textures as they resonate with us on a cellular level. This is one of the main reasons we love to style with different shades of green, as green is the colour of life, renewal, nature and energy, as well as the colour of balance and harmony - What more could you want for your home space?! In this blog, we share our favourite ways to embrace green in the home which will leave your friends and family green with envy over your space.

Identifying the ‘right’ tones of green for your home

Now, what tone of green is best suited to your home? Well, of course there are no wrong answers here, but we find more muted tones of green easier to use as they are softer and more complimentary to other features in the home. Our go-to shades are; Olive, Sage, Seaweed, and Emerald. For more youthful areas, such as a kid’s bedroom or activity room, we love shades like Pistachio which are more fresh and vibrant. And, before you think, what on earth are these shades you speak of? We promise a quick Google search will give you all the answers you need!

The go-to colour for bedrooms

A bedroom is one of the first places we will look to use the colour green, simply because it’s known to be the most restful and relaxing colours to the eye optically. This is due to its spectral wavelength and the way our eye distinguishes and digests colours. And, what better space to feel restful and relaxed than your place of slumber? Think beautiful feature cushions or soft linen sets to bring a touch of green into this space. You’ll find almost an immediate sense of soothing both mentally and physically - we swear!

Using green to add luxury

Yet, green isn’t just known for its relaxing properties, it’s also the colour of money which brings with it a sense of luxury, refinement and elegance. This makes it the perfect colour for sophisticated living spaces when you want to add a moody element to make a real statement. This can be easily done through abstract artwork choices, notable decorative items or even an occasional furniture item in daring green colour pop.

Fresh in more ways than one

Last but certainly not least, if you’re looking for an easy way to integrate some green into your home without any long-term commitment to colour, fresh greenery is the way to go and can simply work in any area of the home. From bathrooms to kitchens and everywhere in between, by introducing indoor plants or a simple arrangement from your garden, you will be brining in so much positive energy and life. It’s a no brainer!
