Five ways to best enjoy your home space.
There is no doubt that our homes are an extension of who we are - what we do within the walls of our sacred spaces shapes our mood, affects our productivity and influences our overall outlook on life.
In saying this, it can sometimes be easy to mindlessly move through your home, just going through the motions of your daily routine. Are you just existing in your home? Or, are you enjoying your home to its absolute fullest everyday?
Whether you’ve recently moved into a new property, are in the midst of some home improvements or are simply feeling a little stale in your space, we’ve compiled a few ideas to help you really enjoy the best out of your place.
Embrace your own style.
When it comes to your interior style, your home should be a reflection of the people that live there. No matter if your style is a little alternative or downright bizarre, if you really love a certain color, pattern, wallpaper or piece of art, then you should proudly showcase it in your home. Of course, you can look to social media, magazines or books for inspiration but don’t feel the pressure to decorate your home the way you think it should look. Instead, focus on the design elements that truly “spark joy” within you, as Marie Kondo would say!
3. Show off sentimental items.
We all have those sentimental items that bring back special memories of a time, person or place. Typically, these sentimental items are so meaningful to us because they are associated with an experience that brings with it an entire lifecycle of enjoyment - from planning the experience, to the lead up to the experience, the experience itself, and then remembering the experience well into the future. So, is there anything better than being surrounded by this wonderment 24/7 in your own home?! We think not!
5. Celebrate just about anything.
From that small work win, to the completion of a project or end of a chapter, life is worth living so be sure to make the most of every occasion within your home. Celebrating even the smallest of events or accomplishments can make the world a brighter place, and one might even suggest that celebrating failures and disappointments could be useful, too! Either way, bring out those champagne flutes, your favourite Spotify playlist, some tacky decorations and have some fun!
