Our Guide to Easy Easter Entertaining.
With the fast-approaching Easter long weekend on the horizon, so comes four days of entertaining opportunities! Whether you’re keen to have the entire family round to your place, or simply a small bunch of your nearest and dearest, we are pleased to share with you some of our favourite easy hosting ideas that every member of your inner circle will be sure to enjoy!
A Good Friday
A traditional seafood feast doesn’t have to be a full-on, fancy affair! We find there is nothing more Australian than a casual backyard gathering to laze away a sunny afternoon. Spread out a layer of newspaper, then chuck on a bucket of prawns and fresh oysters on ice. Pair with a loaf of bread and butter, different condiments of choice, cold beer and bubbling champagne. Don’t forget a chilled playlist for good vibes and you’ll be sure to win your pals over with this combination!
Saturday Night Footy
If you’re anything like us, we love the opportunity to all congregate around a game to cheer on our beloved West Coast Eagles. With a Saturday night game scheduled for Easter weekend here’s how you can turn your traditional footy food menu into a gourmet feast for your guests to enjoy! We love Caramelised Onion Mini Hot Dogs, Brioche Beef Sliders with Sticky BBQ Sauce, Angus Beef Party Pies and chunky tomato chutney. Doesn’t that sound like a special Easter treat the whole family will love?!
Long Table Sunday Brunch
This one is an easy crowd favourite! We suggest starting with a little visit from the Easter bunny by filling your garden with eggs for your guests arrival. Then, prepare a long dining table in the garden amongst the glorious leafy surrounds. Don’t forget to add outdoor umbrellas for a little shade if available. Using platters and fresh cut foliage, start to decorate up the centre of the table where the food will be served. Dinner plates and personalised settings can be created for a social touch, draping each place with a linen napkin. For the menu, look at iced teas or mimosas as a refreshing kick off. Guests can be seated at the table and served with a platter of bright coloured fruit, pre-made granola cups, pre-made waffles and baked croissants purchased the day before. All you need to do is prepare and serve! Easy-as!
Traditional Easter Sunday Roasting
Preparing a traditional feast for 10 or more family and friends doesn’t need to be as daunting as it first appears. Slow roasting is a genius way to roast a selection of meats. Beef and Lamb are traditional favourites and preparing early in the day and cooking from anywhere between 4 to 8 hours will ensure you have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the festivities. Add roast potatoes and other seasonal root veggies an hour or so before serving. Couple these roast treats with some fresh greens and you’re on! For the ultimate sneaky hack – transfer your packet gravy into a fancy gravy server and you’ll look like the ultimate chef!
