Enhancing your interior design with flowers and foliage.

One of the most exciting parts of our job is our bi-weekly (but sometimes daily!) trip to our local wholesale florist to pick beautiful blooms for our projects. This is an especially exciting task this time of year as the gorgeous springtime florals start to line the shelves, bringing with it a sense of renewal and fresh beginnings!

Often inspired by the masses of colour and texture available to us for our beautiful home staging projects, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the prospect of making your own arrangements. Yet, floral displays don’t have to be complicated or professionally arranged. You’d be surprised just how easy it is to transform your home with simple flower arrangements and today, we are sharing our go-to choices to help you enhance your home.

Fresh Blooms.

Now, it’s important we share that often when it comes to selecting the right florals for our projects, we’re looking for easy-care solutions that can last up to a month at a time without dropping, dying or needing frequent water changes. This, unfortunately, rules out a huge array of gorgeous fresh blooms that just aren’t practical for our line of work but would make the ideal choice when boosting your own interior design at home. Hydrangea, disbuds and phalaenopsis all make lovely choices, especially when opting for a colour that ties in perfectly with your interior styling. Fresh florals are perfect for adding a dash of wow-factor to an entryway or to your coffee table.

Oversized Branches & Foliage.

We’ve seen these gracing the pages of every interior magazine for months. Oversized branches and stalks of foliage are the chic go-to of the moment! The perfect way to make a bold statement, whilst still offering a relatively understated and no-fuss arrangement. We love to see these in tall vases to add height to a dining table or kitchen island bench-top. Think cuttings from an olive tree, magnolia or poly gum for beautiful blue-green-grey tones.

Dried or Preserved.

These have been ever-so-popular over recent years and it’s easy to understand why! Preserved flowers and foliage can last anywhere from 3-5 years depending on the level of care so they are a great option for interior styling. Due to the longevity of the product, florists usually are able to offer a broad range of styles and colours to suit a huge variety of looks. Not to mention, they are “in-season” all year round! We love to use preserved hydrangea, palm leaves, amaranthus and Dutch craspedia across our projects.
